Extended retroauricular access to the medial temporomandibular joint space.

چکیده

here are many ways to operate on the temporomandibuar joint (TMJ),1,2 including open approaches, which can e classified as preauricular, endaural, and retroauricular.3 he latter results in a pleasing appearance and extension of he temporalis improves access.4 We describe an extended etroauricular approach, which offers excellent access to the edial joint space and allows simultaneous harvesting of onchal cartilage and temporalis fascia. We describe this techique in a patient with bilateral fibro-osseous ankylosis of the MJ after trauma.
